Opening Reception & Cabaret
@ the Bomb Shelter 10145 104 St. - Downstairs
Featuring hosts Cash Machine and R Room Video
Short Showcase.
Cash Machine Bio:
Bound in human flesh, inked in blood, forged in the hottest oven in the swankest corner of hell, ripped from the pages of today's news, steeped in the grand tradition that is competitive horseback riding, appearing as if spontaneously forced into existence by the wish fulfillment centres in the brains of music-loving children from all corners of the world, Cash Machine is not just a drink to be sipped casually and then discarded while you ponder the complexities of Icelandic politics, not the plain brown wrapper on your mail-order bride, but the real meat of the daily horror show, the all-consuming drive to consume all, the spread-eagle money shot that leaves you empty and yet fulfilled. (Yes, they're a band.)
SAT, Sept. 17 @ 9pm:
LOVENASIUM Funk & Hip-Hop Extravaganza
@ the Bomb Shelter 10145 104 St. - Downstairs

B.C.) with special guests The E-FAM Prairie Champs
Hip-Hop Showcase. This just in: Breakz by
Phreshly Squeezed - one of the best breakdancing
crews in E-Town.
Slow Nerve Action BIO:
There is currently no word or term for the musical genre Slow Nerve Action
play in, and can so far only be expressed in body language, by a steady
tilting and rocking of the pelvis, usually accompanied by a throwing back
and shaking of the speaker's head, hands running through his or her hair,
eyes closed, mouth open…
They've been the most popular band in Whistler for most of their five years
together. SNA's new album "Lovenasium" was released in May to appreciative
audiences across the great white west. They've killed three tour vans and
have gone all the way across Canada four times. They've opened for Choclair
and had Three Days Grace open for them. Their last long tour was a three
month, sixty-show marathon to Charlottetown and back, in support of their
independent debut album "The Soap of Beautiful Women", which was recorded
and mixed in three days, and has sold over three thousand copies off the
stage and the website alone. "Soap" was number one for a while on CIUT FM
University of Toronto (the biggest campus station in the country), and also
saw heavy play on the Outdoor Life Network, Sportsnet, Whistler Cable, and
was used in a handful of films.
Slow Nerve Action consists of Christopher Berry on vocals, Benson on bass
and bass synth; Josh Gontier plays guitar and sings, Mike Lunt drums and
DJ Buddha is turntablist. For more info and some extra good lovin' see http://www.slownerveaction.com

Pascal Gayne:
Born
on the politically torn and revolution shook island of Haiti, Pascal Gayne
was orphaned at a young age beyond his memory. He managed to survive the
hard times and violence and poverty of his country and ended up being adopted
and relocated to Edmonton Alberta at the age of 11 years. Although young,
his formative pre-teen years have left a huge love of his culture and his
history. He is Haitian through and through. Having always been inspired
by his strong connection to the church and his faith, Pascal was always
around the singing and preaching that comes along with it.
Inspired by the likes of R. Kelly., Wyclef Jean and other hip hop and R&B
artists, Gayne's style has been developing into a unique voice that while
vibrant and fresh, has a penetrating sincerity and hopefulness that is immediately
recognizable. What sets him apart him from other R&B artists is his youthful
timbre voice and his creative ability to form classic vibes with ease. Along
with the gift of singing and words, Pascal has the glow of a star when he
walks into a room. He entrances audiences with dance moves that speak of
dance hall culture and hip hop love, and while he is a humble and friendly
individual, he is a larger than life presence on the stage.
Past work with the now defunct group UNT crossed his style over into the
rap market and became a vehicle for artistic growth and regional exposure
which he is now using to build his own fan base. Guest appearances on recordings
with others such as Politic Live, Secret Society, Oozela and Kreisha Turner
will no doubt further his career in positive ways. A lover of music and
of learning the music business, Gayne has the passion to push himself into
the mainstream avenues of the industry. He is currently working with a variety
of producers and artists to complete his first solo album not yet named.
He has dedicated a tremendous amount of his own time, effort and money to
self development and reaching his goals. It will no doubt be an album worth
buying.

Souljah Fyah
Souljah Fyah is a high-energy roots Reggae band out of Edmonton with an
international appeal. Their music combines African percussion, sweet harmonies
and heavy baselines to produce their soulful sound. They draw inspiration
from foundation artistes such as Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. Their self-titled
CD produced by Ibo has been tearing up the airwaves in St. Kitts, Nevis,
St. Martin and Anguilla amongst other islands. The CD has been the featured
album of the month in Amsterdam and Belgium, and has been getting steady
airplay all over. Front woman Sista J's single entitled "Feel Like Smiling"
is featured on the soon to be released compilation CD by Smokey Room Productions.
This CD will feature many other great Canadian Reggae artistes, both male
and female. SJF have been showcased at Cariwest in Edmonton and Carifest
in Calgary on the main stage as well as on A Channel's Wired program. They
perform in and around Edmonton and say they will go wherever they are invited
to play! Their live performance is always a treat so be ready to dance when
Sista J and Souljah
Fyah hit the stage!
